'The Choice Voice'
Galvanizes L.A. Jazz Scene
(June 30, 1998)

Jazz ingenue Tracy Todd appears at premiere jazz club, Catalina Bar & Grill, 1640 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood (213.466.2210), on Monday, August 10th for two sets at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Based on her prior gigs, we suggest you make reservations NOW to see this stunning performer.

Jazz artists are known by the company they keep, such as John Patitucci, Chick Corea's bassist, and Peter Erskine, legendary drummer for Maynard Ferguson and Weather Report. These two giants, and the other great players on Tracy's new CD agree that listening to her voice is like stepping into a time machine. Few artists have the tone, wisdom and courage to actually sing, to simply tell the story and let the magic of the song blossom.

There is a chilling vulnerability in Tracy's voice, a clarity of tone not heard since Keely Smith, and an acceptance of the price one pays for love reminiscent of June Christy. She evokes an intimacy so genuine that we advise older jazz fans to take an extra vitamin E, catch the early set and arrive home ready for bedtime.

Tracy is that rare performer who has the singular respect of jazz fans of all ages. You only have to hear her once to know why all roads lead to Tracy Todd.
